Farm Overview:
We are really excited to be able to bring you this delicious coffee in partnership with importer Raw Material. Anoxic natural process coffee is a relatively new method within the speciality coffee scene and has gained attention for its unique flavour profiles. This involves fermenting green coffee in a controlled environment without oxygen leading to a distinct and more complex flavour.
The topography of Villamaria is challenging to put it mildly, as it comprises steep hills and valleys that have been affected by volcanic activity in the not so distant past leading to fertile land ideal for growing coffee.
La Batea means the valley in English and is an area of Villamaria where its incredibly steep hills provide a unique microclimate. Here, cold air currents swoop down from the snowy mountains of Santa Isabel and Volcan Nevado del Ruiz, improving air quality, circulation, and pollination, whilst cooling the air temperature that surrounds the growing cherries!
We hope you enjoy this coffee as much as we do.
